. Marisa’s Story

Marisa’s story began long before she ever held a microphone or published a sentence. Born fourteen weeks premature and weighing one pound, thirteen ounces, she spent 145 days in the NICU. She survived multiple code blues, two life-threatening infections, and three major eye surgeries before six months old.

Her vision was affected by Retinopathy of Prematurity, a complication of her extreme premature birth. What started as a fragile beginning became a lifelong testimony of perseverance, courage, and purpose.

Marisa continues to overcome adversity with steady determination. She has stepped beyond her disability and participated in dance, gymnastics, track, swim, choir, and marching band. She is a print reader and writer, fluent in Braille, and a five time 1st place winner at the West Florida Braille Challenge.

Faith Journey and Spiritual Leadership

Marisa’s personal faith journey has shaped how she views hardship, identity, and hope. Her relationship with Jesus has grown through Scripture, prayer, and the daily practice of trusting God in seasons that required endurance. Faith is not a label in her life. It is the foundation that has carried her through uncertainty and strengthened her to live boldly for Christ despite challenging circumstances.

She has had the privilege of serving in spiritual leadership roles, including Chaplain of the Student Council Senior class and Chaplain of the 2A state champion Royal Ambassador Marching Band. These opportunities deepened her love for ministry, discipleship, and encouraging others to follow Christ with confidence.

Education and Training

Marisa brings both lived experience and professional training to everything she creates. In December 2025, she graduated from the University of Florida with a Master of Arts in Mass Communication with a concentration in Public Relations. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership with a minor in Communication from Southeastern University.

Writing and Speaking

Marisa has a passion for writing and speaking that connects faith with real life. She has been a featured author on LiveOriginal.com and TheRebelution.com.

She has shared her story and testimony at schools and churches, and she has spoken at non profit events in the community about life with vision loss, overcoming adversity, and persevering with purpose.

The feedback received has been outstanding from teens and adults alike about the impact of her testimony.

Marisa would enjoy being a part of your next event. She travels within the Tampa Bay area of Florida.
