Building a Long-Lasting Relationship with Jesus

After I made a deeper commitment to fully surrender my life to the Lord, He began taking me through a heart refining process which was quite painful, but at the same time, very rewarding.

A Sunset Reflection

I wrote the following prayer to Jesus a few months ago on my vacation to Georgia while on the porch watching the sunset. The peaceful autumn mountainous atmosphere gave me space to rest and reflect with the Lord.

The sun is setting on a dark season and a new morning of restoration is coming.

This chapter is closing, and a new one of abundance and joy is finally here.

I realize this dark season has been an invitation to seek You more and establish a long-lasting relationship with You.

I’m so thankful for Your faithfulness, loving me through all the years of tears and taking care of me even when I couldn’t see it or feel it.

It was hard, it was awkward, it was literally hell at times, but I’m so thankful for Your faithfulness.

Love You forever.

Keeping the Fire Burning

I want to remain on fire and keep my love for God burning.

Ways to keep our love burning for God

  • Choosing to love Him when life doesn’t go our way

  • Praise and worship Him even when we don’t feel like it

  • Spend time in prayer even when we don’t feel like it or have a busy schedule

  • Read/study the Word

  • Surround yourself with believers who encourage you in the Lord

Stay for the Dessert

The Bible speaks of some people who didn’t stay with Jesus long enough for the dessert.

In John chapter 6, many people left Jesus after He said some things they didn’t like, but if they stayed long enough, they would’ve not missed the very important revelation He was giving on communion with Him.

The people in the crowd didn’t even bother to ask Him to explain what He was saying, they simply were immediately offended and left Him.

If Judas Iscariot had stayed long enough, he would’ve received so many revelations the Lord explains in John 13-17 which contain some very important teachings as these were Jesus’ last words before His crucifixion.

Stay for dessert. The King is waiting.
