What does it mean to make the most of every opportunity?

As children of God, we are called to “make the most of every opportunity.” This means that we can be intentional in showing the love of Jesus in our everyday lives. All we have to do is offer ourselves as a willing and available vessel for the Holy Spirit to work through. There are so many opportunities that we have on a daily basis to share the gospel through our words and actions that will impact eternity.

Ephesians 5:15-17

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.”

Ways to make the most of every opportunity:

  • Hold the door for someone

  • Call out the beauty and gifts in others and let them know how much you appreciate them

  • Let someone else go ahead of you in line

  • Give someone a gift. (time, money, food, a hug, etc.)

  • Look for people that are excluded and left out and engage with them.

  • Ask people how they are doing and be friendly to them.

Maximize what you have
