In the Middle - Poem

two large rocks separated in ocean

In the middle of the struggle, the pain, the confusion and the heartache, you are loved!

In the middle of all the confusion

When joy’s an illusion

And it looks like you’re losing

In the middle of your deepest pain

When fear sets in to keep you tamed

And all you know is endless shame

He’s the light that redeems your darkness

That’s from Psalm 18

But Mark this:

Your cuts and your bruises

That’s where the enemy loses

In case that’s confusing

Let me tell you what the truth is

You’re washed white as snow

In the crimson flow

That rugged cross

Is where the darkness lost

He pulls you from the mud and mire

He sets you on the rock that’s higher

He rekindles your spark into a fierce fire

He makes you lie down in green pastures

When you’re wrestling with past hurts

He leads you beside peaceful streams

He hides you in the shadow of His wings

And gives you a new song to sing

He is our Helper

A refuge in times of trouble

Instead of shame, He’ll make your portion double

He is our strength and our shield

Protection from the weapons that they wield

Yeah, Love’s a weapon

It kills deception

It fights for heart connection

We’re lifting the yoke of oppression

His joy’s drowning depression

It’s called the power of the resurrection!

So, in the middle of the struggle

When emotions turn into oceans

Rivers of tears leave your heart broken

Remember, His arms are wide open

Oh, what a riddle

He still loves us

Right there,

In the middle.
