Something New - Poem
Upon waking up one morning, I saw a canvas with only a blob of blue paint in the middle with everything else blank. Suddenly, this understanding came to me that in hard seasons, all we may see is the “blue paint”—blue representing sadness and depression. And we just can’t understand how all our pain will turn into something beautiful.
Yet eventually, we discover that this blue, this exact season, was the necessary backdrop and ingredient for our springtime…our next season of joy. It’s like the sky for our new flower field and we finally see how it all fits into our masterpiece from God.
I give all credit to the Holy Spirit for giving me this revelation and helping me write this subsequent poem based on it!
When the canvas of your life is blank
Apart from just some blue
Perhaps this is a setup
For God’s next springtime view
As you walk the field of flowers
Remembering all the tears you cried for hours
You realize
Those were just the showers
Needed to grow all these flowers
Behold the surprise
That blue?
It was just the sky
Home to the birds and butterflies
If you only knew
The purpose of your blue
Was planned from the start
To make something new
The Master Painter knows the plan
One day you’ll understand
Looking back, you’ll see His hand
Making a masterpiece from all the barren land
Brushstroke by brushstroke
Color by color
He was making something new in you
You just needed some time to discover
