What is Love?

text that says 'Love Always Trusts' on wood sign

Love - a small word with infinite meaning.

1 Corinthians 13:4

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

It has immeasurable power, yet it is gentle. It is compassionate. It considers itself nothing in comparison to its beloved.

1 Corinthians 13:5

It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

It is lavished in humility. It is not annoyed. It burns with intense passion. It cherishes you and keeps you safe and secure. It satisfies and refreshes. It is unreserved and unrestrained.

1 Corinthians 13:6

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

It comes from the heart, that it may express itself on the deepest level of communication. It completes. It revives. It makes whole what is broken.

1 Corinthians 13:7

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

It is completely devoted and faithful. It keeps its promises. It knows your worth and value and it always honors you. It heals. It makes new. It is unfailing and undying and unending.

1 Corinthians 13:13

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

It is life. It gives meaning and purpose. It conquers all. Love is infinite, yet intricately detailed. It is everlasting and ever-present.

1 John 4:8

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

This unconditional love comes from God, your Creator, who treasures you in His heart because He knows how precious and valuable you are.
