What Is the Fruit of Your Life?

peaches on tree in sunlight

Recently, my family and I visited a farm.

We had fun picking blueberries and peaches. We had been to this farm before, but this time the peaches were ready so we got to walk through the orchard and pick them as we admired their sweet fragrance.

I love peaches, so I was excited to finally get the chance to pick some fresh off the trees.

While reflecting on my time at the orchard, I thought about what kind of fruit I want my life to bring.

Key to Fulfilled Dreams

Proverbs 13:12 says,

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes it is a tree of life.

The question is…What are our desires? What will be the fruits of our life?

One of my favorite verses is Psalm 37:4 which says,

Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

The key to receiving the desires of our heart and our fulfilled dreams is to:

Delight ourselves in the Lord

This means we are submissive and obedient to Him because we love Him.

It’s all about knowing and loving Him, delighting ourselves in Him alone. Not in His gifts. Not in what we can get from Him. Not in our calling. Just Him.

When we practice simply delighting in Him, the desires of our heart will line up with His will. We will become a tree of life for people. Our life will bear everlasting fruit that will lead others toward the Lord.

He fulfills desires that are in His will

But the secret is simply loving Him. This allows the orchard of our life to bear fruit that will reflect His character and bless others in His Name.

Just like the fragrance and taste of peaches, our fruit will refresh others on their life’s journey, because it comes from the Lord, the Giver of Life.

He’s way more exciting than we know. Loving Him and knowing Him is our greatest calling. It’s the good and better portion that won’t be taken from us (Luke 10:42). He is our Portion. He is our Reward.

Seek Him. Spend time with Him daily. Listen for His voice and discover what He likes.

Your life will bear eternal fruit that will refresh others and draw them to Him!
