Living With The Holy Spirit

What or who is the Holy Spirit?

Who Is Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is sometimes referred to as an “it.”

He is sometimes misunderstood to be some sort of mystical power or influence that proceeds from God.

However, it is critical to understand that Holy Spirit is God.

He is the third Person of the Trinity—He is as much God as the Father and the Son.

He has a mind, will and emotions.

He is also the Person of the Godhead who lives in us. The Father is in heaven, and Jesus is at His right hand.

Acts 1:11  Acts 2:33

The Father and the Son live in our hearts through the Spirit.

What Does He Desire?

The Holy Spirit’s greatest desire is our:

  • Friendship

  • Attention

  • Fellowship

He wants to have fellowship with us and make known to us the mysteries of God.

James 4:5  1 Corinthians 2:12-13

Our responsibility is simply to respond to His call for intimacy—to make time and space for Him to speak and lead us. When we seek Him wholeheartedly, we will find Him.

He is a gentleman and will not force Himself upon us. He will often only engage with us if we first seek Him. His voice is soft and tender, so it is essential to cultivate a listening ear.

What Is His Role In Our Lives?

The Holy Spirit has many roles in our lives.

  • Teach

  • Council

  • Help

  • Strengthen

  • Comfort

  • Empower

  • Lead

He glorifies Jesus and is His representative to us.

John 16:14

He also equips us with gifts and power to enable us to build the kingdom of God.

It is vital to build a life centered on communion with the Holy Spirit. He desires to be our eternal companion.

I encourage you to make it a habit to spend time with Him as well as develop a conscious awareness of His presence.

He is with you wherever you are because He lives inside you.
