Peace: A Key To Propelling into Destiny

We each have a unique calling God placed on our lives before the foundation of the world (Eph. 1:4; 2:10).

You may be wondering why the picture for this blog is an eagle. These beautiful animals are the perfect example of what it means to live in peace.

Eagles fly at high altitudes, above the clouds and above storms. They fly propelled by a wind current, enabling them to smoothly glide through the air rather than constantly flapping their wings. In the same way, we can learn to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and fly above life’s storms. We can learn to surrender to God’s will and gain heavenly perspective on our circumstances.

Isaiah 40:31

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

This verse shows us that the key to soaring on wings like eagles, representing peaceful and victorious living, is to hope in the Lord. The original Hebrew meaning for hope in this verse means “to wait for, expect, look eagerly.”

What are We Trusting?

We can look to Him, rely on Him and eagerly expect Him to move in our situation with childlike confidence that He has a purpose for the storms even when we can’t see a way out. Like an eagle, we can fly victoriously into our destiny even amid the trials of life, because our peace is rooted in our trust in God rather than another unreliable source.

Jeremiah 17:5 & 7 - Peace Comes Through Trust

“Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord…But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

How often do we say we are trusting in God, yet unconsciously are trusting another source? How often do we trust in man or in our finances instead of God? What are we really looking to? What are we really trusting?

Jeremiah 17:8 - Benefits of Trusting in the Lord

“They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

This metaphor of a thriving tree teaches us that trusting in God is a sure foundation to build our life upon. Placing our confidence solely in Him leads to prosperity in all seasons. Even in drought, our leaves will be green. Even in winter, our life will never fail to bear fruit. Trusting in God yields a life of continual flourishing.

Personal Story - An Unexpected Reminder

Over the past few years, I have learned more than ever what it means to trust in the Lord as I journeyed through an intense four-year wilderness season of testing, trauma and tears.

One day, about eight months before this hard season, I was frustrated with a broken key on a laptop I needed to use for my high school midterm exam essay the next day. My visual impairment made using the provided computers very difficult, so I needed to bring my own laptop from home to successfully complete the essay in class with the other students. As I stood over the laptop, expressing my worries and frustrations in my heart to the Lord, I was interrupted by a gentle whisper. I suddenly heard Jesus say:

“Trust Me, I’ll take care of you.”

These words, which I thought only related to a midterm essay, ended up being so much more than that. Little did I know His words would give me much-needed comfort in a battle I could’ve never saw coming.

Years later, I now have a greater perspective and understanding on how God took care of me through some very dark times. He was moving even when I couldn’t see it. The battle had a purpose, and its end result was peace.

Can you hear Him whispering to you today, “Trust Me, I’ll take care of you”?
