The Power of Peace

Lately, I have come to realize the importance of cultivating a heart posture of rest. I have always struggled with being anxious about the future. It became a way of life for me. A subconscious pattern of imagining the worst. Now I see that God wants to set me free and that living a life of peace is possible.

I often think that I need to channel my inner kingdom warrior.

I need to push, endure, persevere. I need to be victorious. I need to run more and more until I receive my crown.

It turns out that the secret to a true warrior in the kingdom of God is peace.

Peace enables us to persevere, endure and outlast the enemy

This verse rocked my world:

Isaiah 30:15

In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.

Our strength is not found in doing, running, pushing and striving.

True strength is found in trusting God

It is found in cultivating a quiet, peaceful heart. Our salvation in Christ produces rest, as Jesus Himself is the Prince of Peace.

Our relationship with God is not meant to be filled with striving, but rather it should overflow with the peace of God.

The next time you and I are faced with a difficult situation that causes us anxiety either on a macro and micro level, let’s use this as an opportunity to practice peace.

Let’s press into the peace that Jesus offers and little by little, we will be set free from all of the things that we didn’t even realize were holding us captive.
