Who is Jesus? - Poem
It is essential that we know who Jesus really is. When we understand His identity as the Son of God who took on human flesh, we will better appreciate the significance of His sacrifice on the cross for us. We are reconciled to the Father by grace, not by our good works. Jesus took on the punishment for our sins that we deserve, and made a way through His blood for us to be in right standing with the Father. We can now boldly approach God and draw near to Him with the confidence that we are loved and accepted through His Son
Jesus.
Is He a good moral teacher?
Famous preacher?
Is He only a prophet?
This lie, some have bought it
What about the resurrection?
We need to know who He really is
To avoid all deception
Here is some apologetics
But I definitely don’t regret this
Jesus is more than a man
He is the Great I Am
He came down from on high
To execute the Father’s plan
In the town of Bethlehem
Born of a virgin
Conceived by the Holy Spirit
He is the Word of God
Yes, the whole world will hear it!
He is full of grace and truth
The miracles He did are the proof
That He was sent by the Father
It is by grace that we have been saved
Not by our good works
The road to salvation was paved
By His blood that broke the curse
The New Covenant of grace
Is more glorious than the first
Built on better promises
He gave His life on the cross for this:
To free us from our sins
To reconcile us to the Father
So we could live as sons and daughters
To save us from the coming wrath
When we believe, we are forgiven
He did the math!
He was oppressed and afflicted
Familiar with pain
It was God’s will to crush Him
For all our sin and shame
For our sake He suffered
Betrayed at the Last Supper
He cried in the garden of Gethsemane
“Father, take this cup from Me!”
He had to face the reality
That it was time for Calvary
The Jews mocked and spit on Him
But He made no reply
When they questioned Him
“King of the Jews!”, they said
“Crucify Him!”
We want Him dead!
They nailed Him to that cursed tree
For hours He cried in agony
As the crowd accused Him of blasphemy
Darkness covered the land with gloom
He cried, “Father forgive them, they know not what they do.”
The curtain of the temple was split in two
At this, old things were exchanged for new!
They buried Him in Joseph’s tomb
But that old grave didn’t have room!
On the third day, He resurrected
What was broken is now connected
This sounds foolish to those who are perishing
But for us who believe
it is the wisdom of God
That we should be cherishing
That’s the gospel
Wrapped in rhythms and rhymes
Please give your life for it
For it has more power than what we realize
So make it your aim to know Him
For He is the Prize
Jesus.
