Hebrews 2:14 highlights a profound truth about Jesus' mission and His identification with humanity. By taking on flesh and blood, Jesus shared in our humanity fully. This was necessary for Him to defeat the power of death and the devil. Jesus' incarnation and sacrificial death on the cross broke the devil's hold over death, providing a way for humanity to be freed from the fear and finality of death.
