Jesus is Knocking

Scripture

Revelation 3:20 (NIV)

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Reflection

In Revelation 3:20, Jesus extends a personal invitation to each one of us. He stands at the door of our hearts, patiently knocking, desiring to have an intimate relationship with us. This verse reveals the tender heart of our Savior, always ready to embrace us if we are willing to respond to His call.

Many times, we allow the noise of this world and the busyness of life to drown out the voice of Jesus. We become so engrossed in our daily routines and pursuits that we unintentionally close the door to our hearts, shutting Jesus out. We may not even realize we've pushed Him away until we feel a sense of emptiness within.

Prayer

Dear Lord, forgive us for the times we have ignored Your knocking on the door of our hearts. We acknowledge that we need You in every aspect of our lives. Please help us to be more sensitive to Your voice amidst the distractions of this world. Soften our hearts so that we may open the door wide and welcome You in with joy.

Action Steps

  1. Listen attentively: Set aside time each day for quiet reflection and prayer. Open your heart to hear God's voice through His Word and the prompting of the Holy Spirit.

  2. Respond to His invitation: Take a moment to examine your heart. Is there anything hindering your relationship with Jesus? Confess any sins and surrender your life to Him.

  3. Make Jesus your priority: Ensure that your schedule allows for meaningful fellowship with Christ. Seek opportunities to engage in worship, study, and service within your faith community.

  4. Open your heart in worship: Approach your prayer time with an attitude of openness and gratitude. Invite Jesus into every area of your life, seeking His guidance and presence throughout the day.
