The Gardens - Poem
This poem expresses Jesus’ desire for us to come away with Him into the garden—that sweet place of heart-to-heart communion with Him. It also reminds us that we are not alone even when we walk through Gethsemane seasons. He meets us there too.
The garden is a place of love and intimacy. The first marriage took place in Eden, but our spiritual marriage with Christ started in Gethsemane. Jesus’ resurrection even occurred in a garden. A garden is the birthplace of the Bride. When we share in His sufferings (Gethsemane) we become more united with Him (Eden).
Come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
Take My hand
And walk with Me
Closer still
Will we be
Let Me lead You
Beside peaceful streams
Fragrant flowers
And lush fruit trees
My love, open your heart
Till nothing keeps us apart
Oh, even in the olive grove
You’re not alone
See,
Eden and Gethsemane
Both are holy to Me
Dew drops to blood drops
There’s no place My love stops
See,
Rose petals on pebbles
There’s no place My love stops
The garden’s where we start
The garden is My heart

“The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed.” – Genesis 2:8
“A garden enclosed is my sister, my spouse, a spring shut up, a fountain sealed.” – Song of Solomon 4:12
But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb. And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. Then they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.” Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, “Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.” Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher). – John 20:11-16
“He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.”– Psalm 23:2
